We collect payment upon completion of the move. If you're not paying by cash, we will use a Square reader for payment

When does time start and stop?

Time starts when the crew arrives at the first location. Time stops when the truck is unloaded at the final location.

Time starts when we leave the "Local Service Area" your move was scheduled in.

Moves ending outside of a "Local Service Area"
Time stops when we return to the "Local Service Area" your move was scheduled in.

Why you should choose us?

We have no time minimum

While other companies may charge a 3 hour minimum, we have no hourly restrictions. We bill in quarter-hour intervals. For example if 45 minutes was needed we would bill 3/4 hours + base fee.

We don't sub-contract

Each mover is an employee of One Big Man & One Big Truck. We provide health, dental insurance and abide by worker compensation laws.

Packing Tips

Packing it right

Packing can be less stressful if some simple directions are followed. Start packing early, pack a little each day, and pack one room at a time. It is also important to purchase the right packing materials.

We suggest that you buy uniform-sized boxes from a packing store. Supermarket or liquor store boxes tend to crush easily. A packing store will also be able to supply you with the other materials you'll need.

Packing Fundamentals

Clear a table for a work area and have available several rolls of tape, a pair of scissors, unprinted paper, labels, boxes, bubble wrap and a bathroom scale to weigh boxes.

Tape boxes on both the top and bottom in cross-like fashion for maximum strength.

Label the side of each box. Mark the contents and the room where you want the box placed in your new home. Write "fragile" on the box, if applicable.

  • Things you will need
  • Small (16" x 12" x 12") for heavy items such as books and records.
  • Medium (18" x 18" x 16") for kitchen equipment
  • Mirror Pack (for mirrors or framed art)
  • Plain paper (newsprint can smear)
  • Bubble wrap or cushioning material
  • Marking Pens
  • Large heavy duty garbage bags
  • Packing individual items
  • China and Glassware- Line the bottom of the box with crumpled newsprint, wrap each item individually with bubble wrap or paper, and leave enough room at the top of the box for more crumpled newsprint.
  • Pictures and Mirrors- Pack in special mirror cartons or wrap in bubble wrap and pack in sturdy boxes lined with newsprint.
  • Lamps- Separate lamp shades and pack alone in a box, bubble wrap the base.
  • Linens, Pillows, and folded clothes-Use heavy duty plastic trash bags.
  • Bureau Items-Empty drawers, Don't tape drawers shut it can ruin the varnish.
  • Books, Files, and Records- Empty Bookcases or filing cabinets into small boxes
  • Plants- Stop watering plants a few days before your move and wrap plastic bags around the base.
  • Barbeques-Make sure all ash and oil are cleaned out.
